Safety Culture and Climate Symposium - Call for Abstracts

Interested presenters are invited to submit abstracts addressing the theme of "Safety culture from the regulators' perspective" for the First Community of Practice Safety Culture and Climate Symposium, to be held in April 2016.

The Community of Practice in Safety Culture and Climate (CoP Safety Culture and Climate) is supported by ISCRR and brings together Australian researchers active in the domain of safety culture and safety climate to share information, network, disseminate research and collaborate on current and future projects relevant to issues of safety culture and safety climate in Victoria and Australia.

This organisation was developed in response to growing interest among OHS researchers, practitioners and regulators in the constructs of safety culture and safety climate and their relationship with work-related illnesses and injuries. It also builds on ISCRR's existing program of research into safety culture and climate.

The First Community of Practice Safety Culture and Climate Symposium will explore workplace safety culture and climate from the perspective of regulators, looking at regulatory issues and the role of regulators as agents of influence to the community generally and workplaces specifically.

Abstract submission is open from 4 to 29 January 2016 (midnight, EET). Abstracts of various types are welcome, including reviews, case studies, discussion papers.

Abstracts addressing the above topics are particularly welcome:

  1. The scope of regulatory oversight of safety culture
  2. Data and tools required by regulators and organisation to maintain oversight of safety culture in the workplace
  3. The role of a modern regulator
