Operationally, ISCRR is part of Monash University and is subject to its governance procedures and policies.

Monash University provides support with Human Resources, Finance, IT, Legal and Communications services.

To ensure effective and efficient operations, the following governance procedures have been put in place:

- Operations governed by a Board comprised of representatives of each of the funding agencies and one independent director.

- The Board exercises full powers delegated by the Vice-Chancellor as an independent centre within Monash University.

- The Board is accountable to prepare and deliver strategic plans and annual research plans and budgets for funding agency Board approval.

- The Board is accountable for preparing annual progress reports to the funding agencies.

- Senior relationship managers in each funding agency have been appointed to coordinate the operations of funding agencies and ISCRR.

- A high-level advisory group to be established to advise ISCRR CEO on research strategy development and quality.
