In November 2025, Professor Sarah Anderson gave the keynote speech ‘From Principles to Practice: Embedding Ethical AI in Injury Prevention and Workplace Safety’ at the Australiasian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN)’s Annual General Meeting.

In her speech, Professor Anderson discussed the promise and the perils of AI in workplace safety, and the current examples of psychosocial harms that this technology has already imposed. She also noted issues of bias in AI systems, and the problems of governance in terms of accountability, and finished with some conclusions on how to move forward from here.

Professor Anderson’s keynote underscored the need for ethical, accountable AI systems that advance workplace safety without creating new psychosocial harms.
