At ISCRR, we appreciate our talented team members’ wonderful work by showcasing it. This month, we are putting the spotlight on our Research Program and Operations Officer, Kathryn Leslie, who has recently returned from maternity leave.
We asked her to share her insights on three questions relating to returning to work after parental leave:
1. How are you feeling about retuning to work at ISCRR after taking parental leave for the past year?
“I’m feeling very nervous about returning to work. This isn’t a reflection on ISCRR, this is more to do with juggling so many things. How am I going to fit work in with an already full plate?”
2. Many parents cite time pressure, fatigue, and the logistics of childcare as major challenges when returning to work. How has ISCRR supported your transition back, given these kinds of challenges?
“ISCRR have been great supporting my return to work. I chose to come back a little early on a part-time basis to ease myself back into work life. Gearing up to return to full-time in the coming weeks.”
3. What advice would you give to other parents preparing to return to work after parental leave?
“Lean on your support network, you can’t do it all.”
