Safe Work Australia Research Summit 2025
In September, Dr Sarah Oxford and Professor Sarah Anderson attended the Safe Work Australia Research Summit. Professor Anderson also contributed as a speaker in the workshop, “Translating evidence into action to improve injured worker outcomes” with Karen Walker-Bone, Mary Wyatt, Andrea Madeley, Michael Young and Mandy Young (MC).
Some key takeaways from the summit included:
- Early, person-centred support makes a difference. Timely, tailored, and empathetic care using a biopsychosocial approach significantly improves both work and life outcomes.
- Engaged employers and collaboration are crucial. Proactive employer involvement and coordinated case management drive better recoveries.
- We need to be braver with data and collaboration. Stronger sharing of what works (and what doesn’t), improved mental health interventions, and less reinvention of the wheel will help us move forward faster.
It was encouraging to see such strong commitment across the sector to building evidence and working together to improve recovery pathways for injured workers.
